Partnership Management – It’s a two way thing!

Recently we have been appointed to manage the relationships with British Swimming’s key partners Up & Go, Healthspan and Lebara to ensure the relationship is fully amplified to the benefit of all parties.

This work has really highlighted some key points for success we thought we would share

  • Make sure both parties are clear on each others objectives from the partnership - whether it’s reaching new audiences, sampling products, athlete endorsement – this needs to be clear from the start so all activity works towards this and success can be measured

  • Establish plans that work toward delivering these objectives  - delivering social posts isn’t right if ultimately your partner wants the product in athletes hands, providing a logo on branding won’t help tell a partner story and its relevance to your audiences.

  • Set clear deliverables and a timeframe  - create a plan upfront and use this to keep you on track. Obviously you need a little flexibility for ad hoc opportunities but a plan helps you stay focused when times become busy

  • Communicate clearly and regularly. If something isn’t going to work, be honest, communicate quickly and present an alternative idea. Set up regular call or meetings to update on progress and keep campaigns moving

  • Value you partners. Show them love and attention and they will stay, even if there are some bumpy roads along the way. Take their money and run and they won’t renew the contract!
