GBWR appoints Nasima as Trustee
GTA founder Nasima has been appointed as the newest trustee of the Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) board, taking over from Channel 4’s Kate Clayton who stepped down after a three-year term at the end of 2023.
Chair of GBWR, Ed Warner, expressed his enthusiasm for Nasima’s appointment, stating:
“Nasima’s passion for inclusivity and her track record of affecting positive change in the sports domain align perfectly with our mission at GBWR. We are confident that her strategic insights and communication expertise will contribute significantly to our ongoing initiatives.”
As a Paralympic sport, Wheelchair Rugby has come a long in a short space of time - first introduced in Sydney in 2000, GBWR are current paralympic gold medal holders and go into Paris 2024 hotly contended to retain this title. Have growth significantly since London 2012 (from 8 to over 30 clubs nationally) Wheelchair Rugby is an exciting, powerful contact sport and the only mixed gender para sport.
Nasima adds: “I’m really excited about my new role. GBWR’s vision is to be the showcase disability sport in the UK by 2028. I’m looking forward to utilising my experience and expertise to help this dynamic NGB achieve its ambition!
