Media relations: Driving awareness and coverage

Introduction

 London Landmarks Skyscraper Challenge was the UK’s first skyscraper-to-skyscraper zipline challenge and the world’s first challenge to include a tower run, abseil, and zip wire combined.

GTA had the pleasure of working with event organisers Tommy’s, the UK’s largest pregnancy and baby loss charity, to drive media coverage for this unique event from launch through to Challenge weekend.

How GTA Supported

  • ·Created a media engagement strategy targeting key national and regional broadcast, print and online media from pre-registration through to post event

  • ·Recruitment of media participants to take on the Challenge

  • ·Proactive targeted media relations to secure multiple coverage hits in key target media

  • ·Crafted all media assets to deliver key messages inc. interviewee briefing notes

  • ·Managed content creation with picture agencies and videographers to produce engaging assets for media and client channels

  • Delivered crisis communications supporting the Tommy’s marketing team

Results Achieved:

75 pieces of national and regional TV, radio, print, online and social media coverage  

A collective reach of 920 million

Five media participants including BBC, Metro, Virgin Radio and City A.M.

BBC multi-channel coverage reaching 16+million people across 8 outlets including BBC Breakfast News, BBC News Channel, BBC London TV & radio, BBC News Website ‘Most Watched’ and BBC Tik Tok
