BBC Bullseye

In the world’s first skyscraper to skyscraper challenge (that’s a tower run up the Cheesgrater then an abseil down or a zip wire across to the Gherkin) London Landmarks played host to silhouettes never seen before across London’s skyline.

Tasked with raising awareness of this unique event via media coverage, we set about securing media participation in an event that was not for the faint hearted.

And we delivered! The fearless Harry Lowe from BBC took on the jaw dropping challenge.

The result - a multitude of editorial coverage across BBC Channels. With the story making BBC Breakfast the whole of the UK joined Harry on his zipwire into the Gherkin feeling his adrenaline and elation at having completed the challenge. This played out across the BBC South TV region, made the number one most watched video on the BBC News website, received exposure in multiple bulletins on the BBC News Channel, got top spots on BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer as a ‘Must Listen/Watch’ respectively and broke first across the BBC tik tok channel. With a combined reach across eight BBC channels of 16+million together we created amedia moment fitting for an event five years in the making.

This was no easy win. With weeks that turned into months of liaison, planning, health and safety consultations, briefings, logistics meetings and on the day management - team GTA secured access, moments and interviews to ensure the BBC had a groundbreaking story with maximum engagement. Insights into new and intricate BBC ways of working, networks, requirements and opportunities ensure GTA now move forward with the BBC firmly embedded in the agency’s weaponry.
